WEATHER-Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 7am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 93. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
LOCAL NEWS- Lafayette Police have arrested 33 year old Brandon Laverge in connection with the Mickey Shunick case. We will 'break in' to programming at 1 pm today for a live press conference hosted by the Lafayette Police to discuss the newest developments. Despite Thursday's search efforts that focused on the old South Baton Rouge area, the two teen who escaped from the Jetson Center for Youth are still missing. If you have any information, please call Crimestoppers at 344-STOP. The 24 year old who was hit by a car in the 8400 block of Florida Boulevard is expected to make a full recovery. The Brave Program is only a few weeks old and Baton Rouge Police Officers have already made some arrests along with laying the ground work needed to build relationships and visibility in the 70805 area code. A fire in a four-plex in the 5000 block of Brightside did about $175,000 in damage and while no one was hurt, five people are homeless this morning.
