LOCAL NEWS-Yesterday the Senate voted in favor of a Bill that would create 'another' break-away school district in East Baton Rouge. Istrouma High School, which has an 'F' under Louisiana's grading system, will soon be 'taken over' by the Recovery School District. In this morning's Crimetracker, the Ascension Parish Sheriffs' Office needs your help to find 38 year-old Danny Villenurve who has had his bond revoked and an order issued for his arrest after being forced out of a court appointed drug treatment program for violating the rules. Also, Police are looking for a dark colored Camry or Nissan that hit a man on his way to lunch, leaving him for dead on the side of the road. They 'think' the driver was a black woman in her 60's. Already dealing with a 900 million dollar shortfall this Legislative season, state lawmakers have cut an additional 200 million from this year's budget due to State Income Tax collections brought in less than expected. Guns were the focus for the House Committee on Criminal Justice yesterday as there were more than ten bills that dealt with firearms in some way. The DOTD is to perform a study on Interstate 10 from the Mississippi River to the ten-twelve split in an effort to find ways to ease the congestion that builds up during rush hour.
