LOCAL NEWS-An Iota man is in jail, charged with attempted first degree murder. Yesterday a District Court Judge ruled that lyrics can be used in the first degree murder trial of local rapper Lil Boosie. A Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously approved a bill aimed at curbing copper crime yesterday. Also, a House Committee has approved House Bill 695, which would allow drivers to use their cell phones only if they use a hands-free device. According to their Board of Supervisors, Crestwood Learning Academy in Baton Rouge needs to make up a budget shortfall for this school year and is looking at cutting salaries for teachers and other faculty by 20 percent in order to do so.
