Young man from Clayton killed in ATV crash

CLAYTON, LA — Early this morning, a crash involving an ATV killed a man from Clayton, La.
Troopers responded to the crash around 2:10 a.m., which occurred on Prince Road in Catahoula Parish. The crash involved a 2011 Honda ATV, driven by James R. Keene, 22. The ATV was east bound on Prince Road in the west bound lane when Keene lost control and slightly exited the left side of the roadway. After slightly exiting the left side, Keene overcorrected the ATV and exited the right side before overturning.
Keene was not wearing a helmet and was ejected during the crash. He was pronounced dead.
Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
The public is reminded that it is dangerous and illegal to operate off-road vehicles (i.e. three-wheelers, four-wheelers, and other all-terrain vehicles) on any public roadway in this state.
Troop E troopers have investigated 42 fatal crashes in 2012, resulting in 47 fatalities.
