ASCENSION PARISH, LA — Ascension Parish President Tommy Martinez announced today all Ascension Parish waterways are now open to recreational boat traffic.
Waterways including Bayou Manchac, the Amite River and the Diversion Canal were closed on Friday, Feb. 15 because of the amount of floating debris and increased water levels.
Officials with the parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, along with officials with the Ascension Parish Waterways Commission, said closure of the waterways was no longer necessary.
