Walker, La (NBC33) — The Walker Police Department is beefing up its department, much to the relief of the residents there.

The department is taking applications for three available spots for officers.

People living in the Walker area say they've definitely noticed that crime is on the rise and say having more manpower on the streets is always a good thing.

"I think it's a good idea. They've had robberies, a lot, around here recently,” stated resident Tyler Henderson. “It would definitely help if we added more police officers to the department."

The department is accepting applications through January 25. Two of the hires will be filling brand new positions and one will be replacing a retiring officer.
