East Baton Rouge Parish, La (NBC33) — Less than 12 hours after the polls closed on Decision 2012 in East Baton Rouge Parish, workers were already moving them out of the polling places.
They were being taken out of schools and community centers, back to the warehouse on Florida Boulevard.
Official numbers aren't available yet, but early results show as many as 170,000 people in the parish alone cast their ballot yesterday.
For some, that meant waiting in line for a little less than two hours.
EBR Clerk of Court spokesman Fred Sliman stated, “There were some machine glitches that came up throughout the day, and the Secretary of State technicians are always on their ‘A’ game and got out there quickly. If there is a machine down, they get it up and running. Also, there are multiple machines at the precinct, so there is never a closed precinct.”
Early tallies show the number of people voting yesterday was about the same as the 2008 Presidential Election.
