UPDATE: Police identify victim of early morning crash, car fire

BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — THIS IS AN NBC33 NEWS UPDATE: The deceased in the traffic crash that occurred in the 1500 block of N.Ardenwood has been identified as Alfredo Moreno, 21.
We're told Moreno lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree which caused his vehicle to erupt into flames.
Toxicology reports are pending to determine if speed was the only factor in the crash. Nobody else was injured as a result of the crash.
ORIGINAL STORY: The Baton Rouge Police are trying to determine how a car caught fire, killing the driver inside of the vehicle. They hope someone witnessed what happened and can provide more information.
Police were called to North Ardenwood Drive at around 2:20 a.m. on Monday, March 19. When they arrived they found the vehicle engulfed in flames. The Baton Rouge Fire Department was called to assist.
When the fire was extinguished they discovered a body inside. The person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Traffic Homicide Detectives were called to investigate. So far they believe the accident was single-car. However, there is no witness to the accident, so they have no idea how it happened or why the vehicle caught fire.
