Unrestrained teen dies in crash; passenger in critical condition

MOREHOUSE PARISH, LA (NBC33) — A 16-year-old died last night after she lost control and crashed her vehicle. One of her passengers was air lifted to the hospital with critical injuries.
The Louisiana State Police reports that the crash happened shortly before 11:00 p.m. on Monday, April 15. We’re told Tori Johnson of Bastrop was driving in the southbound lane of Hwy. 830-4 in Morehouse Parish when she lost control and drove off the side of the road.
Officials say Johnson was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. She was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her passenger, Haley Tyson, 22, of Bastrop, was air lifted to a hospital in Shreveport with critical injuries.
A third passenger, Stephen McKelvey, 18, of Bastrop, was also transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Officials say this is the 13th fatal crash in the Troop F area that has resulted in 15 deaths this year.
