Unrestrained passenger killed in Bossier Parish crash

Bossier Parish, La — A 70-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle crash after not wearing his seatbelt.
On August 19 at 8:25 p.m., State Troopers were called to a single-vehicle fatal crash on Louisiana Highway 527 east of U.S. 71.
The preliminary investigation revealed that 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by Delores Parks, 47, of Elm Grove, was traveling Highway 527 when it drove off the right side of the road. The vehicle continued down an embankment, through a ditch, then struck a culvert in a private drive and overturned.
Parks was restrained, reported moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital in Shreveport.
The passenger, Jerry Parks, 70, of Elm Grove, was not restrained and was ejected. Jerry Parks suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bossier Parish Coroner’s Office.
Alcohol use is not suspected. A toxicology sample was taken and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
