This morning shortly before 6:00 a.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two vehicle fatal crash that occurred on LA Hwy 3125 north of LA Hwy 3214 in St. James Parish.

The crash took the life of Walker resident Amy H. Cuti, 38.

This is the fourth fatal crash in a 24-hour period that Troop A has investigated.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Jason D. Glascock, 40, of Walker, was driving a 2002 Toyota Tundra pickup truck northbound on LA Hwy 3125. At the same time, Ian S. Beckman, 28, of Quitman, MS was driving a 2003 Ford Expedition southbound on LA Hwy 3125.

For unknown reasons, Glascock’s Tundra crossed the centerline into the southbound lane of travel striking Beckman’s Expedition head-on.

Cuti, the front seat passenger in Glascock’s Tundra, was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained fatal injuries from the crash. Glascock was unrestrained as well, and suffered serious injuries.

Impairment on the part of Glascock is unknown at this time; however, Troopers have submitted a toxicology sample from him to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.

Beckman was properly restrained, yet suffered serious injuries in the crash. Glascock was charged with Driving Left of Center and Negligent Injuring. Further charges may be pending as this crash remains under investigation. Heavy fog may have also been a factor in this crash.
