United Blood Center says they're low on their blood supply this holiday season.

They're kicking off a campaign to turn that around; it's called the Rock n’ Roll Up Your Sleeve blood drive, bone marrow, and food bank drive.

The event started today at the center on One Calais.

The event's organizer says getting blood is important, and campaigns like this one, along with prizes, helps in a big way.

“We see a decrease in donations usually about the 2nd to 3rd week in December in all blood types that we need,” stated Sarah Williams with United Blood Services. “So we are trying different promotions to get people to come in and give.”

Williams goes on to say supply runs low because people get busy holiday shopping or going on vacation.
