The first African-American federal judge appointed to the middle district in Baton Rouge was memorialized forever today inside Federal Court.

Ralph Tyson died back in July. Today, friends and colleagues were on hand as a training room was dedicated in his honor. A portrait was also revealed for the first time in front of Tyson's wife, mother, and children.

One of Tyson's son's spoke about the honor.

"What has been so remarkable, and comforting, is you… stories you've shared and taken time to tell us," stated Chris Tyson.

The training room is meant to honor Tyson's legacy and keep it living inside the halls of the federal courthouse.
