Two teens arrested for several burglaries in New Iberia

Sheriff Louis Ackal advises that on Tuesday, Aug. 7, at approximately 2:45 a.m. detectives with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Investigations Directed Patrol Unit arrested two suspects believed to be involved in vehicle burglaries. Detectives were conducting surveillance in the area of Allen Street in the City of New Iberia and observed two suspects believed to be involved in vehicle burglaries. The two suspects were on bicycles and were stopped by patrol deputies and detectives with Directed Patrol.

Through further investigation, detectives discovered a handgun and ammunition in the suspect’s possession. The suspects also had electronics in their possession which were believed to be stolen also.
The two suspects cooperated with the detectives and were subsequently placed under arrest. Kevin Francis, 18, of New Iberia was charged with two counts of attempted burglary, simple burglary, theft and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

The second suspect was a 16 year old male juvenile. Juvenile detectives continued the investigation involving the juvenile.
