Two schools released from 'lockdown' status after woman escapes Youngsville Police Department

Youngsville, LA — UPDATE: Both Green T Lindon and Youngsville Middle School released their lock down status within 30 minutes, deputies requested the precautionary status while information on the person who had escaped could be obtained.
Deputies will remain on both campus’ through the remainder of the school day.
Once deputies confirmed that there was no danger to the schools the schools released the lockdown status.
Ashley Perkins 25 years old was wanted by Abbeville Police for traffic charges, and was a suspect in another traffic incident that occurred in the Lafayette City Limits. She escaped from the police while still handcuffed wearing a green shirt and grey sweat pants.
Perkins remains at large.
ORIGINAL: Green T Lindon Elementary and Youngsville Middle School are both under lock down at this time; the lock down was suggested by Lafayette Sheriff’s Deputies who are investigating an escape from the Youngsville Police Department.
Initial reports are that a female who had been picked up on open warrants was being held at the police station for processing prior to transport to the parish jail ran out the station which is in the immediate vicinity of the two schools.
The escapee is being sought by Youngsville Police and Sheriff’s Deputies she is identified as Ashley Perkins, 25.
The warrants Perkins was being picked up on were non-violent crimes.
