Right now, Wildwood Elementary School and St. Jude the Apostle School are both locked as Baton Rouge Police search for a suspected bank robber.

Baton Rouge Police say, a black man wearing a wig robbed the Regions Bank at 7777 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge earlier today.

People nearby tell us they've seen dozens of Baton Rouge Police Department cars in the area of Highland Road's intersection with Staring Lane.

We talked with a parent of a St. Jude the Apostle School student who told us she got a recorded call from the school shortly after 2:00 pm, telling her that children were safe inside locked classrooms on the campus as a result of the police activity.

Baton Rouge Police say the bank robbery on Jefferson happened around 11:50 am, Friday. We're told the man handed a note to the bank teller demanding money, then took off on foot.

BRPD officials say they're working with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office to find the man.

NBC33 News has a news team on the ground, and we'll update this posting as we get more information.
