East Baton Rouge Parish, La (NBC33) — The Department of Transportation says new lanes on I-12 from O'neal to Juban are already showing improved travel times for motorists.

The data shows a 25-30 mph increase in westbound travel speeds and a 35-50 mph increase in eastbound travel speeds during peak travel times.

Several more interstate segments are being widened to six lanes under the Geaux Wider program on both I-10 and I-12 and should be completed sometime in 2013.
