Toddler drowns in goldfish pond

DENHAM SPRINGS, LA — On the afternoon of January 2, 2012, just before 5:00 pm, LPSO was notified of a possible drowning on M G Blount Road near Denham Springs, La.
Arriving Deputies found emergency personnel from Fire Protection District Five and Acadian Ambulance Services, as well as family members, administering CPR to 18 month old Alivia Blount. The child’s mother told Deputies that she discovered her daughter facedown in a plastic in-ground goldfish pond located in the yard of her father’s residence, where they had come to visit.
Alivia was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
LPSO Detectives, Investigators from the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services, and Deputies from the Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office are investigating this incident, which, at this point, appears to be a tragic unfortunate accident.
