Deputies with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office rescued three lost hunters yesterday. The men ranging in ages from 22 to 59-years-old were found several miles from their starting point.

Officials say the three men were in the area of Ruiz Boat Landing in Iberia Parish. Deputies were called out to search for the men after a member of the family became concerned that they had not returned home for the day.

Deputies began the search just before 10:30 on Monday, Oct. 17. They quickly located the boat the men were using. It was tied along a bank in a secluded canal near the boat landing.

The men were found soon after. Although unharmed, the men ages 22, 29 and 59 were dehydrated and exhausted. Officials say they had become disoriented while hunting and wandered several miles away from where the boat was tied.
