Three fires blaze through Baton rouge

Three fires break out overnight in Baton Rouge.

The first, which took place just after midnight, forced firefighters to evacuate thirty apartments at the Cambridge Apartment Complex on Bob Pettit road.

A pot left on a stove started the fire. It quickly spread to six more apartments. One person had to be taken to the hospital.

More than a dozen units were damaged, and electricity to the whole complex has been shut off. The Red Cross is helping to shelter residents there today.

Another house fire, on Avenue H, happened around 2 a.m. Two people inside were hurt while escaping, but will be okay.

The fire destroyed the living room and attic of that home. Officials think an electrical malfunction is to blame.

Thirty minutes later, another house caught fire just on Darryl Drive. No one was home at the time. Investigators say they don't think it was arson, but are still looking into what caused the blaze.
