The Better Business Bureau says to watch for phone scammers
Baton Rouge, la (NBC33) — Better Business Bureau CEO Jim Stalls says scamming phones isn't tough to do at all.
He says he's gotten calls where people say they've gotten messages saying their relatives are hurt and need money to save their lives now.
One the victim calls a number, the scammer takes over.
BBB officials say the reason why scamming is so common, is because people who are victims are just too scared to come forward.
"If you report it, then it creates a pattern, and once you create the pattern, then you know what you've got to do to make the public aware in order to issue some type of alert," warned Stalls.
