A storage room in downtown Baton Rouge went up in flames last night and caused a total of $325,000 worth of damage.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department reports that the blaze was reported at roughly 10:38 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25. Workers at a bar on Third Street called firefighters after they saw flames coming from the adjacent building.

Officials say the fire was contained to the maintenance room and portions of the attic above. However, there was extensive smoke damage to other areas of the building. Thankfully, no one was injured.

It took just under 3 hours to full extinguish the fire. Both Third and Lafayette Streets were closed due to the equipment on scene.

Investigators are currently working to determine what sparked the blaze.
