Baton Rouge, La (NBC 33) — State lawmakers, and workers joined with teachers and AARP officials at the capitol to say "no" to Governor Jindal's Pension Reform plan.
State Representative James Armes says he's against House Bill 61.
He says this bill is "one of the most extreme overhauls of a state run pension system in the nation".
Under the plan the retirement age would jump to 67.
Workers would also have to contribute more to their own retirement instead of the state.
Armiss says the people he spoke for today need a voice to make sure their golden years are still financially secure.
"Our state workers are the little people who bust their butts everyday just to make ends meet, I'm talking about the bus drivers, I'm talking about my friends back home, the custodians of schools," said State Representative from District 30, James Armes.
