The Louisiana State Police is working with PAVE, a sexual victim survivor advocacy group, for the second year in a row.

The training seminar focuses on taking a look at different ways victims cope with sexual abuse and how law enforcement and others can stay sensitive to each survivor's needs.

"One of the things that we're looking at today is really how the victim responds,” Angela Rose, PAVE Founder, said. “Everybody deals differently with trauma and one of the other messages of today is that there's no shame in being a survivor."

Rose, a survivor of kidnap and sexual violence herself, says it's very important to create awareness about sexual assault, especially in large university-campus communities.
