The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) has requested the assistance of the Louisiana State Police for security and operational support at the new Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (DSNAP) sites, scheduled to open this morning (Monday, Sept 24) morning at 6:00 a.m.

Troopers have been working with DCFS personnel to ensure a smooth functioning operation from start to finish. Several agencies have been working together daily in support of the operation. The sites are scheduled to remain open through the week. Site hours are from 6:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. each day, and the individual site locations are listed below.

  • Baker Wal-Mart: 14740 Plank Road, Baker
  • Healing Place Church: 19202 Highland Road, Baton Rouge
  • Sam’s Club: 7685 Airline Highway, Baton Rouge
  • Lamar Dixon Expo Center: 9030 S. Landry Road, Gonzales
  • Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church: 9700 Scenic Highway, Baton Rouge
  • Southern University, F.G. Clark Activity Center/Arena: 798 Harding Blvd, Baton Rouge

Troopers will be assigned to the DSNAP locations around the clock to provide on-site security, traffic support, and logistical support throughout the duration of the event. Troopers will be working alongside Baton Rouge City Police Officers, East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Deputies, Louisiana Army National Guardsmen, and Wildlife and Fisheries Agents to ensure a safe and efficient operation.

Motorists should be prepared for additional traffic in the areas of the DSNAP sites. Alternate routes should be taken to avoid traffic congestion, especially in the areas around Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, Healing Place Church, and Sam’s Club on Airline Highway. More specific alternate routing information will follow for each of the affected areas. More information regarding the DSNAP sites can be found by visiting the Department of Children and Family Services at www.dcfs.la.gov
