In America, 17.7 million women are living as victims of an attempted or completed rape. Over half of these women were abused or assaulted as children.

The Sexual Trauma Awareness and Response Center (STAR) is hosting the second annual Walk a Mile In Her Shoes, an event that is intended to bring awareness to the prevalence of sexual violence in our community, and have men take a role in helping to eliminate it by literally walking one mile in women’s high-heeled shoes.

The event will be held on Sunday, April 29 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the North Boulevard Town Square.

Individuals are encouraged to visit www.brstar.org and sign up to take the Walk a Mile Challenge.

There is no cost to register; instead participants are asked to seek monetary sponsorships for their walk. The event is free and open to the public.
