St. John the Baptist Deputy Brandon Nielson laid to rest
LAPLACE, LA (NBC33) — Deputy Brandon Nielsen was laid to rest today, less than a week after he was shot and killed while on duty in St. John the Baptist parish.
Deputies Jeremy Triche and Brandon Nielsen were killed and Deputies Michael Scott Boyington and Jason Triche are still hospitalized after the attack. Jeremy Triche was buried Monday. The line of law enforcement vehicles traveling to the funeral started in LaPlace this morning. They drove beneath a huge flag stretched across Belle Terre Boulevard that was hoisted up by two fire trucks.
Nielsen had been with the department for just under two years. He worked in the motorcycle traffic division.
