A small town Mardi Gras parade was supposed to roll this weekend, but town officials decided to throw in the towel.

According to KPLC NBC News in Lake Charles, the parade was canceled due to a lack of participation in the community. The 2012 parade was supposed to roll on Saturday.

Vinton is located in Calcasieu Parish and has a population of around 4,000 people. The area has always had a problem when it comes to parades, and not just the ones related to Mardi Gras.

Mayor Kenneth Stinson says tells KPLC that the last Christmas parade in the area only had three floats.
