Skeletal remains were located at the site of the former St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office. Officials believe the remains were left behind when the facility was relocated.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office announced on Tuesday, Sept. 24 that the remains were found on the property of the old Southeast Louisiana Hospital, which is located on US 190 near Mandeville.

Investigators are not considering this a crime scene. The Coroner’s Office was called to collect the remains.

The Southeast Louisiana Hospital is a state operated psychiatric treatment facility.
