SHREVEPORT, LA (NBC33) — Investigators have released more information today regarding the 6-month-old child who died yesterday after being left in a vehicle parked at the LSU Heath Science Center in Shreveport.
The Shreveport Police Department reports that the incident was reported around 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 22. The vehicle was parked in the employee parking lot and the child’s father is the one who alerted police.
The infant, Lourdes Marie Duvall, was found unresponsive in the SUV. She was taken to a local hospital, but was later officially pronounced dead.
Officials say the child’s father is an employee at LSUHSC and believe he accidentally left her in the vehicle when he went to work.
At this point in the investigation no charges have been filed.
A similar case occurred in Lafayette in June 2012. The father in that case was not issued any charges.
