Seasonal employment is helping some to make Christmas extra special this year for their loved ones.

Erica Sept started working at a Baton Rouge target for the holidays.

"I wanted to take care of my boys and support them and also make money, and take care of their Christmas needs also. Electronics and Jordan’s, electronics and Jordan’s all the time," chuckled Sept.

She is one of thousands across the state taking on some extra hours to make sure her kids have an extra special holiday.

"Of course that's what all my money is based on, all the time. My boys," said Sept.

Target manager Christina Chau explained that they started hiring part-time seasonal workers long before the holiday got here.

"We started roughly in October. We've hired roughly 120 people and we're still continuing to hire for the holiday season," said Chau.

Just a few weeks ago, Sept was offered a permanent position. She said for years she's looked for the perfect job and the perfect one has come along just in time for the holidays.

"It's been a continuous cycle of trying to find a decent job, one that I'd like to stay at, and one that i could make career changes up the ladder," explained Sept.

Target managers tell us that they have seen hundreds apply for the seasonal positions.
