Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Former Louisiana Governer and former presidential candidate Buddy Roemer spoke out about the problematic relationship between money and politics.
Roemer told the Baton Rouge Press Club that Washington D.C. operates on a "who you know basis". Roemer says national politics is corrupted and people who want to get business done in Congress have to have a big bank account.
"I'm trying to get a country that is pure and honest with its people. I feel Washington is bought, and if you want to get a congressman's attention or senators attention, write a big check,” stated Roemer.
Roemer is the founder of Business First Bank in Baton Rouge.
