BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The State Inspector General's Office said Fire Marshal Butch Browning withheld information about a carnival ride that hurt two teens.

According to a report released Tuesday, Nov. 13, State Fire Marshal Butch Browning knew of a possible mechanical problem with The Zipper, a ride at the State Fair in Greensburg.

But Browning said he blamed the accident on “operator error.”

The Inspector General's Office made several recommendations to address the findings of the report.

NBC33 News tried to get a comment from the State Fire Marshal, but he was unavailable.
