Renaissance hotel almost a reality
BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) — Construction is humming along at the Renaissance Hotel on Bluebonnet Boulevard.
In just a matter of weeks what had been a blemish on the Baton Rouge skyline has become a luxury hotel says Ted Terrell, V.P. of Development, "The largest dramatic changes from people seeing it for 21 years as just a vacant lot building and to see the progress that has actually taken place over the last 12 months has kind of been the talk of downtown of how much it's transformed from what it was to what it is today."
What it is, is a $45 million hotel with the amenities you would expect and more says developer Mike Wampold, "A 256 room, full service four star hotel with roughly 15,000 feet of meeting space, upscale restaurants, wine bar and so forth."
There are also uniquely Louisiana features to this four star $45 million hotel from the authentic Cajun cuisine to the flooring designed like crab traps.
This makes those involved excited to show it off to natives and visitors alike, "We're proud of it. We're proud to take the eyesore of Baton Rouge and turn it into a really nice asset that all of Baton Rouge can be proud of for years to come."
