Belle Chasse, La — Hurricane Isaac may have brought severe hardship to Plaquemines Parish, but it also brought opportunity. Residents now have an unprecedented chance to help chart Plaquemine’s course to a stronger future.
As hurricane recovery moves forward, Plaquemines is seeking innovative ideas and strategies for the rebuilding effort.
Plaquemines Parish will hold four informal public input sessions on March 11, 12, 14 and 18 so residents and community leaders can outline potential opportunities for parish improvements, and offer ideas about the parish’s direction as it recovers from Hurricane Isaac and determines how best to protect against future storms.
Residents may drop in anytime between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at:
March 11: Belle Chasse Auditorium
8398 Hwy. 23, Belle Chasse, LA 70037
March 12: Port Sulphur YMCA
378 Civic Dr., Port Sulphur, LA 70083
March 14: Braithwaite Auditorium
1253 Hwy. 39, Braithwaite, LA 70040
March 18: Percy M. Griffin Community Center
15535 Hwy. 15, Davant, LA 70046
People can drop in for just a few minutes or stay for the full time to identify areas of opportunity and offer creative suggestions, opinions and advice on rebuilding Plaquemines Parish.
There is no formal agenda, and no officials will make presentations or speeches. Instead, folks can walk among various stations where they will find large poster boards with general topic titles such as Housing, Economics, Infrastructure, Health and Social Services, and Natural and Cultural Resources.
