Just a reminder for East Baton Rouge Parish this 4th of July holiday- no fireworks.

The Baton Rouge Police Department wants to remind everyone in the parish that fireworks are illegal.

BRPD said this law is to keep the residents of the parish safe. Police say if people do not follow the rules, there will be consequences.

”They're certainly going to seize those fireworks, if they see people who are out on the streets or in their yards discharging them,” stated Lt. Don Kelly with the BRPD. “The people are potentially subject to receiving a summons or even being arrested."

Police also said that there will be a no-tolerance rule for any guns that are shot into the air. Anyone caught doing so will face jail-time.
