BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Canine cops got a chance to show off their skills today.

Police dogs from Louisiana and a handful of other states have been at LSU all week taking part in field trials; including how to apprehend a criminal test.

The criminals, played by volunteers from these police departments, ran across the field then the dogs took a bite out of crime.

The dogs are used for more than just catching crooks. the dogs help search for missing people.
