Belle Chasse, La — The Pointe-a-la-Hache Ferry landing will re-open on today.
The DOTD has approved the re-opening to light traffic which includes cars and pick-up trucks. School buses and dump trucks will not be allowed on the ferry landing.
Tesvich Enterprises, LLC did the repairs which included replacement of the bearing support beam and spacer beam on the substructure and replacement of a number of damaged deck boards. Gulf Engineers and Consultants and the Department of Transportation and Development inspected these repairs and deemed the landing safe for light traffic.
There will be one boat at the Belle Chasse location and one at the Pointe-a-la-Hache location. The Pointe-a-la-Hache ferry will operate from 6:00 a.m. until 10:30 p.m., Monday through Sunday.
“We want to thank Tesvich Enterprises and GEC for their work in getting the landing open. We know this ferry is important to so many people and are glad to have it operational again,” said Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser.
