Plans for new BRPD deputy chiefs put on hold

BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Baton Rouge Police Chief Dewayne White says his plans to hire three deputy chiefs are on hold.
White had planned to hire the deputy chief to increase accountability in the department. But according to reports, the police union says it would have been more difficult for officers to be promoted.
Chief White would have cut seven captain positions to pay for the deputy chief slots.
Do you think BRPD should hire the three new positions, or do you agree with union? Tell us your opinion on the NBC33 Facebook page.
