People who live on West Fairlane Court in the Glen Oaks neighborhood said they are recovering. A fire broke out in one home early this morning and spread to another home and an SUV, before firefighters could get it under control.

Alexis Horton's the granddaughter of one of the homeowners. She said she's just happy everyone is okay.

"I was like 'Oh my gosh' because it was just blasting up everywhere. I mean, I've never seen somebody's house just blast up everywhere," Horton said.

Horton said today is a day she will never forget. She lives with her grandmother whose house caught on fire Tuesday morning.

"It hit the side of our house, and my grandma came in there and woke us up," Horton said. "She was like screaming 'Come on ya'll! Get up! Get up! Somebody's house is on fire!"

"Next thing you know, her fire from her house hit our house. So my auntie and everybody was just crying because she just graduated," Horton explained. "She wanted all her graduation things, and so I mean, it hurts to lose it. She just wanted to keep that in memory to her heart."

Horton said her grandma was prepared because this is not her first house fire.

"She said she was alert. She said she was asleep and like nobody but God woke her up," Horton said. "Everybody was asleep in the house. She said she heard it hit her window and she woke up."

Horton said even though her house will be okay, she feels for her neighbor.

"I mean, I was nervous. I was scared. I didn't feel comfortable," Horton said. "I feel bad for her. She lost the house and the car."

No one was hurt in the fire. District 6 Fire Department told us one home will need a lot of repairs, while the other is destroyed. The investigation is still on-going.
