BATON ROUGE (NBC33) — In Madison Parish, one person was hurt after an explosion at a grain elevator explosion. It happened at Bunge’s Grain Elevator operation at the Madison Parish Port in Talullah. The worker who was hurt is in stable condition. A final ruling on what triggered the explosion has not been made, but one official says grain dust may be to blame. So far, plant officials have not said when they will reopen.
In Livingston Parish, three children are in trouble with the law after authorities say they stole guns from the old city hall Denham Springs. Livingston Sheriff’s officials say two 12 year olds and a 15 year old broke in over the weekend and stole the guns, a replica rifle, a non-working hand grenade, and several knives that were all on display in the military history section of the old city hall. The three are in custody at the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center.
In Tangipahoa Parish, five people are in jail after deputies say they fired shots into a crowd during a fight in Hammond. Authorities say the five had been asked to leave a party after an argument, but came back later waving guns and firing several shots. No one was injured in the incident. All five suspects are in jail, facing a list of charges, including possession of stolen property and disturbing the peace.
