Orleans - A 19 year old is locked up after a shooting that happened earlier this morning. Police say Michael Matthews shot 29 year old Kevin Stewart several times, then got away on his bicycle. Stewart was taken to the hospital, that's where he died. Matthews was taken into custody and booked on one count of second degree murder.

East Baton Rouge - Lawmakers on the senate finance committee are spending their memorial day talking the state budget. That committee decided today to use more than 260 million dollars in one time money in the budget. That means deep cuts across the state could be spared. If the cuts were to happen, some of the hardest hit agencies would have been to higher education and health care. It's not approved just yet. The bill goes to the senate floor for a debate. The session has to end one week from today.

Livingston - Construction at the new Our Lady of the Lake in Livingston parish is set to wrap up in September. These are pictures taken of the construction by Walker mayor Bobby Font. The hospital broke ground back in January of 2011. When it's complete, officials say it will include a free standing emergency room, and many outpatient services. No word yet on how many jobs the new hospital will bring to the parish.

That's a look at what's happening - parish by parish.
