BATON ROUGE, La.(NBC33) — Assumption - A New Orleans woman is locked up on kidnapping charges. That after deputies say she took her two year old without permission. It happened over the weekend in Belle Rose. The baby was found safe in New Orleans. Cooks is charged with simple kidnapping. The case is still under investigation.
Tangipahoa - These two people are behind bars on drug charges. Deputies say Christopher Hart and Anthony Peters refused to pull over on I-12. Before they were caught, deputies say the pair threw a bag of cocaine out the window. Tonight Hart and Peters are facing a list of charges including resisting arrest by flight, possession with intent to distribute, and improper lane use.
West Baton Rouge - Deputies are still trying to figure out how a train and a trucked crashed into each other this morning. It happened at the South Winterville crossing in Port Allen. One person had to be taken to the hospital. He's expected to be okay. There's still no word on that person's identity, or how the crash happened.
Rapides - Members of the New Light Baptist Church in Pineville have one big and heavy reason to not only count their blessings today, but now they can also count the number of chimes from their historic bell that was stolen last week.
As you might recall, last week someone stole the church's 400 pound bell that had been part of the church for more than 130 years, which not only left this bell tower empty, it left a whole in the hearts of church members and a void in the community.
