BATON ROUGE, La.(NBC33) — St Martin - Two Jamaican men are in the parish jail tonight. That after state troopers busted them with nearly 850 pounds of marijuana. That much weed has an estimated street value of two million dollars. State troopers pulled over a big rig just before 6:00a.m.in Saint Martin parish, and during the traffic stop, troopers say, they became suspicious of the cargo inside.
Lafayette - There's an expansion in the works at Lafayette Regional Airport. It'll take five to ten years before the work is done, but the Lafayette Airport Commission says it'll be worth the wait. Right now commissioners are trying to decide on whether they should expand the airport's terminal, or start from scratch.
East Baton Rouge - The Louisiana Public Broadcasting Association and Rotary Club of Baton Rouge honored 8 winners of the 2012 Louisiana young Heroes award today. The award recognizes students in grades 7 through 12 who get good grades, serve their community, and have overcome adversity. Governor Bobby Jindal declared today “Young Hero Day” in Louisiana to honor those students. The students spent the day touring LSU, and meeting with state and city leaders. Five of the winners go to school in Baton Rouge.
