ST. AMANT, LA — An 18-wheeler accident led to both the St. Amant Fire Department and Hazmat being on the scene at the corner of Hwy. 431 and Gold Place Rd.
The tank of the 18-wheeler ruptured and 50 – 75 gallons of gasoline leaked into nearby ditches.
The ditches were siphoned, and water was used to dilute and rectify the situation.
Area homeowners were not ordered to evacuate.
Drivers were allowed to travel through the intersection this morning. A decision was made that although some minor clean up work is continuing, roads would be opened at 5:00 a.m. for commuters.
