Fire chiefs from across the state went back to school today as part of the 40th annual Louisiana Fire Chief Association Conference.

The conference is being held in Baton Rouge. The St. George Fire Department is hosting the event.

The chiefs are learning about new ways to help save you money, such as how to improve their insurance grades; the better the rating, the lower your homeowner's insurance.

They are also testing new technology to help keep your family safe.

"There is everyone here, from brand new fire chiefs to the fire chiefs that have been in the service from 20 to 30 years,” stated Chuck Albert, President of the Louisiana Fire Chiefs Association. “So everyone comes together, no matter how new you are to being a chief officer, and you're able to learn from some of the older guys.”

More than 150 firefighters are in town for the conference, which ends on Saturday.
