The numbers are in, and the state distributed over $100 million to the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or D-SNAP, to citizens affected by Hurricane Isaac in Louisiana.

Of that $103 million, close to $12.5 million went out in EBR Parish.

East Baton Rouge Parish comes in third in the state for the amount of money given out, right behind Jefferson Parish ($27 million) and Orleans Parish ($19.3 million).

While both of those parishes were harder hit by Isaac, DCFS officials say they're not surprised by the number of people that needed to apply for D-SNAP cards here. They say it's right on par with their estimates, and it's clear that the need was here.

Officials with DCFS said that the department is now looking in to and investigating any cases of fraud that may have been committed by those using the D-SNAP program.
