Did you know one pint of blood can save up to three lives? Remington College helps with that effort.

"I am a retired paramedic, and I know the need for blood in the street," Janis Mann, Professor at the college, said.

Today, Remington held the 3 Lives Blood Drive to help supply local hospitals with blood. The focus this year is to get more minority donors.

Minority blood is in high demand because it helps people fighting Sickle Cell Anemia and other diseases, which are common in African Americans and Hispanics.

"I think that everyone should donate blood because you never know whose life you're saving," Troichell Jackson, student, said.

3 Lives has collected more than 8,000 pints since it began.

The next blood donation drive will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
