One person seriously burned when tugboat strikes gas line in Jefferson parish
Lafitte, LA — Two people were injured when a tugboat struck a natural gas line in Bayou Perot Tuesday evening, causing a large fire.
According to Deano Bonano, an aide to the council chairman in Jefferson Parish, two people were taken to the hospital after the explosion, which occurred around 6:00 p.m.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Coast Guard said the flames reached nearly 1,000 feet into the sky.
