The Office of Juvenile Justice says the Director of the Jetson Youth Center, Daron Brown, is on adminstative leave. That after the agency says he took it upon himself to chase a car he thought had the escapees from his center.

The chase happened Friday night on I-10 between Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

According to a press release, "Jetson Director Daron Brown, who was off duty, acted on his own and attempted to act on the tip, which he heard on his radio.  We believe he felt he had solid information on the location of the youth.  Director Brown made numerous calls to the Command Center and law enforcement to let them know what was taking place during the chase....Early this morning, we learned that Director Brown had been possibly misled by an informant when he pursued vehicles thought to be carrying our escapees toward New Orleans."

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office says 15 year old Demonte Washington and 18 year old Clarence McWilliams haven't been seen since around 8:15 Tuesday night.   They are still considered a threat to the community.

NBC33 News has learned the pair may still be in Baton Rouge.
